Congratulations to Michelle Whymant who passed her final nursing exams and now joins the team of Qualified Veterinary Nurses at MCVG!
New Isolation Ward
Since Kirsty left to go on her travels our Forres branch grooming room was looking a bit redundant. Given the recent outbreak of Parvovirus in Elgin we decided to improve our isolation facilities by converting the grooming room into a spacious isolation ward. This enables us to hospitalise and treat patients with contagious diseases well away from the rest of the hospitalised animal and day patients. Previously we had always found ways to keep them separate from the other patients but having a dedicated room for this makes life a lot easier. Necessary equipment and medication for nursing these vunerable patients can also be stored in this room which helps the nurse in charge of caring for them.
Nurses Michelle, Susan and Helen took on the task of redecorating the room. They decided on a nice calming ‘Spearmint’ colour for the wall. As you will see below the colour didn’t come out as planned!!
We decided the sick animals hospitalised in the isolation ward would be made to feel even more sick having to stare at the walls!
After a hefty dilution of white paint things look a lot better
